Uv5r not working on repeater after chirp programming upgrade#
Some similar/cheaper things didn't work To use your UV-5R transceiver to its full potential, you must upgrade to a powerful external antenna. I've found the following accessories to be useful. Here are some tips and resources I've found to help me use them. The Baofengs are the cheapest and have a few known issues, Quiet audio, wide open front end makes them prone to interference and bleedover, also the screen can become unreadable when they get hot The Baofeng UV-5R is a great cheap little radio, but it's notoriously difficult to use, with poor documentation. I think you don't have to specifically set it to transmit 0Hz - anything out of range of the 5R should mean that it won't transmit Call Sign: 26TM363.

$\begingroup$ I can confirm setting an offset works to disable transmit for frequencies in VFO mode on the UV-5R.

The SDR receiver found in the UV-5R & UV-82 series does not measure an incoming signal in the traditional fashion based on strength, but rather the amount of noise.

2) Try an external spkr/mic to confirm problem is the mic. Some UV-5Rs, especially later models, exibit low TX audio There are a few steps that do not seem logical, like having to program in the transmit AND receive frequency for each memory channel after you set the offset to negative or positive in the setting, but remember that the Baofeng UV-5R radios were not designed for the ham radio service although they are perfectly legal to use for amateur radio Low Transmit Audio Here's are some suggestions: 1) Talk directly into the radio, within one inch. FM frequency deviation translates to audio amplitude. 3) I switch to FM radio mode - listen to radio and then press PTT button - it switches to chanel mode Not sure if the UV-5R has this setting exposed, but for FM, in addition to mic gain, you have to check for max deviation. I used CHIRP 20120812 to program my Baofeng UV-5R and today find out! 1) when I try to transmit - nothing happens ( display remains dark - nothing changes in display) 2) I attach headphones - the same problem - nothing transmits out. Someone suggested I reset the radio to factory specs.ĭescription. I have tried the speaker/mic, and just the built-in speaker, but nothing. Lights go on, LCD indicates it's receiving, volume is up, squelch is low, but nothing. I can transmit okay, and folks can understand me okay, but there's no audio when I receive something. While cooking dinner last night I was listening to some folks chatting and the audio. Test of volume two baofeng uv-5r Fingers crossed I pass! In the meantime, I have been listening to some local repeaters on my Baofeng UV-5RE and enjoying what I hear, can't wait to join in! However, in the last day or so, I have noticed a problem with the audio on the speaker of my handheld. I tried the ear buds that came with it also and nothing The led green light comes on when receiving, but not even the voice prompt or the key beep produce any sound. The audio was working good, then nothing.
